Gino’s Golf & Poker Weekend March 24th – 26th, 2007

Heisman Trophy winner and legendary University of Miami quarterback, Gino Torretta, hosted an exciting weekend of music, poker and golf to raise money for his foundation, The Torretta Foundation, presented by Seminole Sports Management.

This three-day fundraising event for ALS research kicked off Saturday night, March 24th with a concert by Academy of Country Music and American Music Awards winner, Trick Pony along with country star Steve Azar at Gryphon Nightclub at Seminole Paradise in Hollywood.

The concert was followed by a celebrity poker tournament Sunday, March 25th at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. The weekend ended with a celebrity golf tournament held at the Tournament Players Club at Eagle Trace in Coral Springs, FL on Monday, March 26th

Art & Athletes: A Picture Perfect Event November 13th, 2006

Community activist and former Miami Dolphin, Twan Russell, hosted a celebrity charity art auction to benefit his charity, The Russell Life Skills & Reading Foundation, November 13th at the Rick Case Luxe Collection in Weston, FL.

Over two hundred people, including many local athletes and celebrities, came out to bid on the auction, which featured paintings, prints and sports memorabilia from several local and national artists. The event was a success, raising over $15,000 for the foundation, whose mission is to eradicate illiteracy among inner city youth, thereby empowering, inspiring and encouraging at-risk youth to become successful and productive citizens.

Vivian’s Kidz June 27th, 2007

Members of the media, local athletes including current and retired Miami Dolphin players and professional billiards players teamed up to compete in a friendly 9-ball tournament at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel on June 27. Aside from watching a fun game of pool, guests were able to mingle with celebrities, enjoy music provided by DJ Irie and bid on unique sports memorabilia by Field of Dreams. Money raised benefited pro-billiards player, Vivian Villarreal’s foundation, Vivian’s Kidz, a non-profit organization for missing and exploited children.

Vivian, also known as the “Texas Tornado” and ranked in the top ten in the Women’s Professional Billiards Association, established Vivian’s Kidz after her adopted daughter was kidnapped by her birth mother.

Super Sunday Brunch February 4th, 2007

NFL legend and former Chicago Bear Dick Butkus, considered one of the greatest defenders of all time and current radio voice of the Miami Dolphins and NBC-6 lead sports anchor, Joe Rose hosted a chalk talk about Super Bowl XLI, presented by Seminole Sports Management, February 4th at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel in Hollywood, Fla.

The Super Sunday Brunch was part of the “Super Celebration Series”, a week long of official Super Bowl XLI sanctioned events in South Florida. Aside from the interactive chalk talk, the brunch provided guests an opportunity to mingle with other NFL athletes and alumni and 48 of the top NFL Cheerleaders.

As guests enjoyed a delicious buffet style brunch, they also had an opportunity to win a tailgating package including a generator donated by Rick Case Honda and autographed sports memorabilia. The brunch also featured a silent auction by Field of Dreams offering one of a kind sports memorabilia.

Steve Mizerak Championship and Celebrity Charity Pro-Am November 30th – December 2nd 2007

The Seminole Tribe of Florida hosted the 2nd annual Steve Mizerak Championship, the grand season ending event to the Seminole Pro Tour, on November 30th – December 2nd, 2007. The event, held at the Hard Rock Live, in Hollywood, FL, was also televised on the Florida Sports Network (FSN).

Over 80 players participated in the tournament bringing the payout to over $55,000, making it one of the highest paying tournaments in the country! Anybody was eligible to play. Extra prize money was added for the top three female finishers. The tournament was played on premium billiards tables, sponsored by Diamond Billiard Product, Inc., the manufacturer of tables designed by players for players.

Former All-Star and MLB great, Andre “The Hawk” Dawson kicked off the championship with a Celebrity Charity Pro-Am on November 29th also at the Hard Rock Live. Current and retired athletes, local media personalities and professional billiards players teamed up to compete in a friendly and exciting 10-ball tournament. All proceeds benefited the Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County.
